Like many people out there, I have always been a food junky.

I turned my love for food and luxuries into a bad eating habit and that’s exactly where weight gain started for me.

Over the years I’ve picked up so much weight and I didn’t even realise it, until the day I actually got on the scale and weighed myself.

I almost fell on my back. I was like what, it can’t be.

Not only did I weigh more than I ever weighed in my life before but what made it worse was that I actually weighed less when I was in my last trimester of my pregnancy.

In September 2016, I told myself that it is time to stop feeling sorry for myself and to start doing something about it. I was one of those people who paid gym fees every month and never went, but I quickly turned that around and started going to the gym for 45 minutes everyday for 5 days a week.

I started going to evening aerobic classes and from there a month later I started doing 40 minutes cardio before I actually went to the evening classes. I found that by doing this I became much fitter and I was able to keep up with the tempo in the classes. This made me feel great.

In November 2016, I decided to up my fitness level and I added a morning workout. I have been waking up at 03:30 every morning from a Monday to a Friday just to get in that extra hour. My morning work outs consist of 220 weighted squats to keep my “boody” nice and plump but tight, I do weights for my arms and I do 150 sit-ups and 120 side crunches as well as 20 minutes on the stepper every morning before work. Yes you heard me right I am working up a sweat in my room while you are still sleeping. LOL

You probably wondering where I get all the energy from right, well I only use a pre-workout in the evenings before gym. I use the Biogen pre workout, it gives me the strength I need to get through my workouts and it also burns fat at the same time. This product has really worked wonders for me.

Everyone is probably wondering if I was on a diet. The answer is no I wasn’t. I still eat what I normally would eat but just added more salad and fruit to my meals. All I did was drink 8 glasses of water everyday and eat smaller portions of food 5 times a day. I do drink socially and eat luxuries and junk food but only over the weekends. I believe that what you put into your mouth you need to work it out again so it’s energy in and energy out.

Over this entire period I haven’t been weighing myself. I literally just saw my clothes starting to get too big for me and I knew my hard work is paying off.

When I started this fitness journey I wore a size 16 and today I am happy to say that I wear a size 12. I am 2 sizes down from where I started which means I am two sizes closer to my goal weight. I don’t want to be skinny, I just want to slim down a bit, be more toned, healthy, fit and well built.

Anyone can change their mind-set, but it takes hard work, sweat, dedication and determination to keep on going.

Nothing great ever comes easy, you have to work for it. Start small and end off with a bang because if I can do it, so can you.
