For many years I have lived my life just for the sake of living it and never understood that there is more to life than we think. We all have a purpose here on earth and our purpose is to find that one thing that truly makes us happy. That thing that makes us want to stand up each and every morning and seize the day.
Some people don’t realise how lucky they are to find their life’s purpose early in their lives. It took me a lifetime of mistakes and learning from them before I actually found it.
I have always had a passion for making people feel good about themselves. Encouraging and uplifting people gives me a sense of fulfilment, and if I can make a difference in just one persons life I feel like I have done what I was called to do.
In my opinion, it is important to share your life’s experiences with others. Not many people like to admit that they have problems but guess what we all do. I’m not saying tell the whole world about it. I’m simply emphasising the importance of sharing your life’s challenges with people. Especially people that you know of who are struggling with the same problem that you have already overcome. By sharing your story you give them hope that things will get better. That is where the saying comes from, your strength lies in your testimony.
Someone once shared a story with me that was so touching and today I am sharing it with you.
One day Mrs X went to the shop. She saw this lady standing in the queue and immediately got this overwhelming feeling to tell her that Jesus loves her. But like many of us, she avoided the feeling and went about doing her shopping. When Mrs X finished her shopping, she noticed that this lady was still standing in queue, but this time she didn’t avoid her instinct. This time she followed it. Mrs X went over to the lady and she said: “Hi, I know you don’t know me, and this will probably sound weird, but I need to tell you something.” The lady in the queue looks at her and says, “no problem what is it?” Mrs X says to her, “Jesus loves you” and the lady in the queue breaks down into tears and says to her, “thank you so much.” “Last night, I asked God to give me a sign,” “because today was going to be the day I was going to take my life.”
When I heard this story I was so inspired by it, I just had to share it. Mrs X trusted her instinct and took herself out of her comfort zone and gave this woman standing in the queue that she didn’t know from a bar of soap an important message and it saved her life. How many times do we ignore our instincts?
Today, I’m asking everyone a huge favour. Take a moment out of your busy schedule and take time to reflect. Ask yourself the following questions:
Am I happy with what I am doing with my life?
What am I doing to take myself to greater heights?
Am I passionate about anything?
What am I passionate about?
What gives me a sense of fulfilment?
Once you discovered what that is, take a pen and paper and write down some goals you would like to achieve. Then put plans into place on how you would like to achieve it. Make sure that the goals you put into place are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely goals.
Stop wasting time. It is so precious. Once it’s passed you will never get it back.
Always stay true to yourself.
